Education

Mr. Javier González Montañez graduated from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez campus, with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (B.S.C.E.). He then obtained a Juris Doctor from the Interamerican University School of Law. Mr. González Montañez achieved the highest score in the Puerto Rico Bar Examination (100%), and is a Professional Licensed Engineer.

As an engineer Mr. González worked both, CSA Group and CMA Architects & Engineers as project manager in a wide range of projects, including multi-million dollar infrastructure projects, residential projects and in pharmaceutical industry projects. He also renders professional engineering services in the inspection and evaluation of the integrity of existing structures, and renders expert opinion in different matters related to their design, construction, and compliance with applicable codes.

Mr. González Montañez now serves as Founding Member of Gonzalez & Roig, LLC. His principal areas of legal practice include surety law, construction law, general real estate development and financing, collection of monies and governmental affairs.

He also has ample experience in litigation of civil matters, methods of alternate dispute resolution and advise corporate clients regarding all types of contractual obligations and commercial transaction

Mr. Gonzalez Montañez has lectured on construction law at the School of Engineering University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez, and served as Faculty member developing his scholarly agenda primarily in the fields of advanced construction law matters. The course was offered to both master degree on engineering management candidates and master degree in architecture candidates at the University of Puerto Rico.

Mr. González Montañez is admitted to practice law before the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico General Court of Justice and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, and is qualified as Notary Public. He is also a member of the Puerto Rico Bar Association and the “Colegio de Ingenieros y Agrimensores de Puerto Rico”.
